What is a hero? How do you measure heroism? What do heroes look like? Are they tall, strong, with a booming voice? Do they eat spinach? Do they bathe every day in a barrel full of magic potions? Do they always hit the center of the target? Do they steal the golden fleece from gods?

My hero is Ivo Vizin, a boy born in Boka two centuries ago. His dream of circumnavigating the world coming true was a direct consequence of his heroism. When he was twelve, he became great. How did he do that? Rather easily, actually. He didn’t forget family values even in the hardest moments of his impoverished childhood. Barefoot, so what? Heroes don’t need shoes. They can have holes as well at the elbows and knees. A torn shirt is not a big deal, if you have a heart. Empty pockets are perfectly fine if you have a soul as full as a pomegranate. A hero, therefore, can be many different things, but one must be kind-hearted: never forgetting to kiss mother each morning, to play with younger siblings, to split one’s sandwich with a friend, help a granny cross the street, water plants in one’s garden, look after a park bench, feed a bird, help all of those who need help. That is the true way to live on in memory.
