Massimo Savić entered the world of music as a high school student, playing the electric guitar. Upon his arrival in Zagreb in 1979, he founded the band Dorian Gray with Branko Terzić, Vedran Čupić, and Emil Krnjić. This post-new wave band quickly took over the music scene in the city and beyond, especially after the release of their first album, recorded for the then Jugoton (today’s Croatia Records) that also featured a cover called Sjaj U Tami [Glow in the Darkness]. There followed the album Samo za Tvoje Oči [For Your Eyes Only] in 1984, for which Massimo composed the music in its entirety, with the lyrics written by Zoran Cvetković. After the breakup of the band, Massimo collaborated with Zrinko Tutić who wrote hits such as Stranac u Noći [Stranger in the Night] and Samo Jedan Dan [One Day Only]. In 1990, he met Eni Kondić, his current wife, who wrote the lyrics for the album Zemlja Plesa [The Land of Dance]. As a reaction to and expression of his feelings against the war on the ex-Yugoslavia territory, the album Elements was released, in English, after which Massimo withdrew from the scene. His comeback album Massimo was released in 2002, followed by his coming into acquaintance with jazz pianist Matija Dedić, with whom Savić frequently performed jazz standards. He then went on to release the album Vještina [The Skill] and form the band Alkemičari, which continues to this day. He has also released the albums Dodirni Me Slučajno [Touch Me Unintentionally] and 1 Dan Ljubavi [1 Day of Love].

The album Sada [Now], released by Aquarius Records in 2018, represents a time point set as the present moment in reference to the first album Sjaj U Tami, released 35 years ago, and to the future, which, judging by reception towards these new songs, promises great success.  Most outstanding are the singles 1000 Ljudi [A Thousand People] and Neka Ti Plove Brodovi [May Your Ships Sail], as well as the duet Nama Se Nikud Ne Žuri [We are in No Hurry] with the band Vatra. Many of Massimo’s old collaborators worked on the album: author and producer Predrag Martinjak, arrangers and producers Nikša Bratoš and Ivan Popeskić, and authors Sandro Bastiančić, Amil Lojo, and Davor Pastuović-Newera. New collaborators also made contributions, such as Bruno Kovačić, Nihad Voloder, Sergej Cetković, and Damir Arslanagić, while the photo and art materials of the album were done by Walter.
